We're getting back into routine here with everyone back to school and work this week - which means more time for posts from me! Earlier this week I shared a green smoothie with my Instagram followers to great acclaim, so I thought I'd post the recipe here for you all to try. It is really simple - bananas and spinach, with a bit of date for sweetness - but I like it because it gets some greens into the Clean Little Tummies before they've even left the house in the morning, and the banana and date works wonders at making greens more fun for kids. Sipped with breakfast, it is a filling and nutritious start to the day.

INGREDIENTS

Makes 3 small smoothies or one large one

1 frozen banana (it doesn't have to be frozen but it makes it very tasty)

200 ml milk of your choice

1 large handful of baby spinach

1 mejool date, chopped

Simply place all the ingredients and blitz until smooth. Serve immediately and if you have any left pop into lolly moulds and place in the freezer - they make good ice lollies too if you're experiencing an Indian Summer! This recipe can easily be doubled if needed.

And...that’s it! A simple, green-packed punch to start the day all in one glass. For extra fuel, add a handful of oats or cashew nuts.
