Summer Sunshiney Smoothies

Summer Sunshiney Smoothies

We are in the middle of renovations this week so things have been busy here in the Clean Little Tummies household. And just as I felt like everything was falling apart, and it was all storms-and-darkness, pineapples appeared at our local market! Such a sunshiney, tropical fruit, and we've had the sunshine to match recently. This led me to think about some tropical flavoured smoothies and - in between walls being knocked down- I've managed to rustle up a little favourite of ours.

While pineapples are currently in season, you can also use frozen fruit to make it really thick and creamy, or when you need a little extra sunshiney pineapple in your life. My Clean Little Tummies love smoothies, and this one hides the mango which is not a favourite of Sam's, but goes down well in a smoothie!

With summer holidays fast approaching here these smoothies are also a great way to get your Clean Little Tummies in the kitchen. They will have such fun whizzing up all the ingredients and adding straws and toppings to their smoothies. Not the cleanest of activities but certainly fun to do on a hot summer's afternoon!

Pineapple and mango are the two flavours for this smoothie. Pineapple and mango are full of vitamin C which is good for our growing children helping them to fight off those annoying summer coughs and colds. Mixed with natural yoghurt and milk they also give them a good dose of calcium for their growing bones.

Making them is so simple too: Simply use a blender or nutribullet to blend:

200g fresh or frozen pineapple chunks. If you're using fresh wait until the pineapple is really sweet and ripe, it makes the best smoothies

200g fresh or frozen mango chunks

150g natural yoghurt

200ml milk (of your choice)

A squeeze of honey to taste.

Pour into glasses and top with fresh pineapple slices and pretty straws. Enjoy!

This will make 4 small smoothies. Perfect for Little Tummies.
